It sounds like are Monday night rimfire shoots are going fairly well. There have been 8 people shooting on the 3 nights we have been at the fairgrounds. Doc has graciously donated ammunition as a prize to the best aqt target of the night and a brick for the best aqt of the indoor season. If this looks like a lot of fun, IT IS. Come on out, we are at the shooting sports building at the Custer County Fairgrounds on Monday nights at 7:00pm. We do have a $5 fee to pay for the rent of the building. January Happenings Winter shoots/Meeting

January 16th at 7:00pm starts our winter shooting at the Custer County Fairgrounds Paddock building. These shoots are for fun only & limited to rimfire (pistol or rifle) only. We will be having a meeting January 10th @ 7:00pm in the party room at Huckleberry's Hideout. Up for discussion will be matters concerning the proposed new range and some communication items.

Have fun at the winter shoots, and I plan on seeing you at the meeting.

Concealed Carry Class January 14th 2012

There will be a concealed carry class at the Broken Bow Armory Jan. 14th. The shooting portion of the class will be held at a private range west of town. The class will start at 8:00 am, the shooting portion is outdoors so bring weather appropriate clothing. Targets will be provided. Personal weapons are encouraged how ever there will be a .22 cal and a 9mm on site. Students must bring their own ammunition (NO RELOADS). The cost is &130.00 with $50 of that needing to be paid a head of time to reserve your place in the class. If you are interested please contact Jeremiah Daugherty @ 308-870-2689, you may call, text or leave a message and he will answer any questions asap. I will have some copies of the registration form available for pickup at Computers Plus in Broken Bow.

It has been a while since we have had a concealed carry class here in Broken Bow and the future of another here is unknown, so if you are interested I would definitely check this out.

We won't be holding a Mid Nebraska Rifle & Pistol Club meeting during December. Spend that extra evening with your family…maybe they can be seating bullets while you measure powder…nothing like togetherness!

Anyway, don't forget the indoor .22 shoot is scheduled to begin January 9 at the fairgrounds (watch the web site for more information), and we'll have a special meeting on January 10, 2012.

Potential sight for new MNRPC range

Last night several members went and checked out a potential new sight for the MNRPC range. The sight is about the same distance from town as the previous range. The sight would have a seperate range for long range shooting (up to 700 yards) and short range/pistol. The sight has some interesting potential. I am not aware of any decisions being made at the time of the viewing. We will keep you posted as developments occur.

MNRPC RANGE CLOSED

I just got the phone call that effective immediately, our range is no more. The construction of the windmill towers will be starting and with workers down range, that means NO SHOOTING! At this point if someone needs a range, there is a public range just south of Pressey Park. This news was not unexpected, but we were not expecting it this soon. At last word an alternative sight for our range has not been found. We will keep you up to date on all information as we get it.

October 1-2nd there will be an Appleseed shoot at our range. For those who are not aware of what that is here is a brief rundown. You will learn the history of the events that took place on April 19th, 1775. Along with this history lesson the 6 fundamentals of accurate shooting will be taught, along with other essential information. You will be doing a lot of shooting over the course of 2 days. 3 Gun Match Sept. 18th

We will be holding a 3-Gun match this Sunday at the MNRPC range north of Broken Bow. We will try and have 2 start times, 10am and 1pm. Anyone wishing to help setup for this be at the range Saturday night at 7pm. This will be one long run & gun stage. Not to give out too many details, but you will start by the benches and end up at the top of the hill by the suburban.
Minimum round count will be:

The Nebraska state muzzleloader contest was held September 3-5, 2011,
near Cairo, Nebraska. Winning the state title in the Junior division for
the 2nd consecutive year was Eli Bazyn. Runner up was Ethan Bazyn.
Caleb Smith won the Sub-Junior title. All of the boys shoot
competitively in 4H and enjoy hunting and target shooting with a variety
of firearms and archery equipment.

Some times in life we get so tied up in our daily struggles we tend to forget the past, and those who gallantly gave their lives for others. On this day 10 years ago, Humanity took a blow from a cowardly act of evil. Innocent men, women, & children were sucker punched when a group of evil beings decided to take over airliners and cause a tragedy of unbelievable proportions.
On that day, the brave souls of flight 93 rose to the occasion and took the fight to this evil they faced. These were everyday men & women, who stood up to evil and gave their life so others may be spared the consequences that evil had planned for them. At the World Trade Center innocent people were at work when they were blindsided by an unspeakable act of terrorism, out of this horror there were civilians who got past their fears to help their colleagues survive this event. Alot of these Brave Souls did not make it home to their families. The men & women of emergency services (Fire, Ems, & Police) responded to this act as they were trained. They put themselves in harms way, and most paid the ultimate sacrifice for their bravery. At the Pentagon men & women put their lives at risk to save people they may not have even known. All these people from different walks of life looked evil in the face and said not today, not on my watch, not if I can help it. We need to remember all those people who on this day, had an encounter with evil and didn't live through it. This day 10 years ago shows that evil does not make an appointment, it arrives uninvited and unannounced and we all need to be ready to face evil on its place of choosing. The people who lost their lives that day served their watch, it is now time to serve ours. Will you be ready when evil comes calling?

We must never forget all those who came before us and fought for our freedom from evil. Those who served in our military, emergency services, & just everyday people who had the fight brought to them. Some of these heroes still walk among us, others are just a memory. At a minimum we need to keep their memory alive, and remember the lessons taught by their experience with evil. If you encounter one of these heroes that walks among us, be sure to thank them for their service. If you are one of those heroes, (Yes, you are a hero rather you feel that way or not [You were willing to pay the ultimate price for someone else's life, that makes you a hero in my book]) THANK YOU!!!

What is the Nebraska Firearms Owners Association?

Did you know that in Nebraska we have a local organization defending our rights as firearm owners? The Nebraska Firearms Owners Association (NFOA) is a non-profit organization run by volunteer members who are Nebraska gun owners just like you. Whether you’re a hunter, a competitive shooter, a gun collector, a self-defense advocate, or a concealed handgun permit holder, the NFOA provides a unified voice for all firearm owners in the state.

While there are other larger firearm owner groups and lobbyists fighting battles in DC at the federal level, the NFOA focuses specifically on monitoring the bills and legislation introduced here in the Husker State, testifying on these bills at the legislative committee hearings in Lincoln, and sending email alerts to members on bills that would affect their firearm rights. Every year in Nebraska, bills are proposed that affect firearm range protection, hunter rights, concealed carry laws, and self defense restrictions. As darkness fell the simple stages turned into somewhat of a challenge. I saw light issues, malfunction clearance problems, illuminating the target issues. Gun Show Numbers

Well the 2011 Gun Show is in the books. We had 523 people come thru the gate, 2 new members signed with the club, and we sold 278 tickets for the gun raffle. The winner of the gun raffle (Henry .22 lever action rifle) was Mike M. I think most people would agree this was a very good event. Most vendors were very pleased with the turnout. Me personally, I had a fun weekend at the show (albeit, I am glad it is over [maybe I can get some sleep now :-) ]). I will try and get the results of the night shoot up sometime this week. Gun Show Aug. 20th & 21st

The stages have been picked, and they will be all handgun. Round count is 44 (if you can do them all clean). These night shoots are a great time to check out your equipment, (I had a light failure last time and had to resort to my backup light [later investigation revealed the head had came loose] this is the time to see if everything functions as you envisioned. If it doesn't function as planned the only thing hurt is your pride (better than yourself or a Loved One if you wait to test your equipment when failure is NOT an option). The stages are not complicated, but those of you who have done these before know when darkness falls things are not as simple as they seemed in the daylight (target acquisition [correct target?], reloads in the dark [by feel alone], malfunctions [you probably aren't going to be able to see to clear it], the fear of shooting in dark conditions, muzzle flash is now visible [is a different brand of ammo better than another to retard flash], etc... At the range is the best place to hone these skills or gain that extra knowledge, BEFORE trouble comes a calling. I will need some help to run this event, RO's, scorekeepers, possibly a director if security takes me up on my offer (I will get the range setup ahead of time).

Night shoot August 20th

After much deliberation on the subject (at the regularly scheduled meeting), it was decided to try a night shoot on Saturday night of the gun show. It was stated our shoots are scheduled for the 3rd weekend of the month and if a conflict arises when a shoot is scheduled we just cancel the shoot not re-schedule. We had a good turnout at our last night shoot and it would be a shame not to have the August shoot. A night shoot would not conflict with the Gun Show as it would not start until a couple of hours after the doors were closed on the show. The issue of Saturday night security not being able to attend the shoot was discussed, and Corey volunteered to do security if one of the security team wanted to attend the shoot. More details to follow as they become available.

P.S. The September 4th plate shoot will be cancelled, as their was no one that would be around that weekend to run the shoot (Labor Day weekend).

As a matter of fact Mr. Larry lost only one head to head match up all day. Great shooting Larry!
Everybody shot well today, (barring one CF Revolver pairing where they were 1 cartridge away from both contestants having to run back to the benches for more ammo). The turnout wasn't great but it was alot of fun, with a lot of really good shooting. I would say in years to come we all better lookout because our novices turned in some good performances ( that is if their dad doesn't become ammo poor first [hmmm, kids were going to learn another fun past time called reloading :-) ]). It would be nice to see some more female shooters on the line in the future, we had 2 shooting today (Yes ladies, that is a challenge). I think everyone enjoyed the setup using steel plates instead of pins (barring that stupid lil 4" thing used for the championship final plate mumble mumble grrrr [on the bright side it gives me an excuse to do more shooting :-) ]).
I would like to say "THANK YOU" to everyone who participated, and to Larry for being match director.

We will be having a pin / plate (depends on how many people and how many pins we have), Sunday August 7th at 1:00pm out at the range.

Bring your wife or girlfriend/husband or boyfriend (I suppose you could bring both just remember there are firearms involved [Disclaimer: I/We are not held responsible if you decide to bring your wife and girlfriend to the shoot and things don't turn out like you envisioned it]), friends, kids and take part in the only sport endorsed by our Founding Fathers (before the historians in the crowd flame me, I am talking about shooting in general not necessarily pin shooting). Be sure to bring lots of ammo (and your firearms), water, snacks (vital if your bringing kids), eyes and ears (earplugs will be available if you don't have enough or forget them) for everyone. These shoots are always great fun, so bring the family and a have a great day at the range. For those of you who are new to shooting, come on out you are very welcome to join in. If you are you are worried about being a novice and afraid people will laugh at you, DON'T BE we all have a great time and there are experienced shooters who are always happy to help our new shooting friends. If you don't own a firearm and want to come out to see what this all about, you are welcome also.

Heartland Public Shooting Park

It's just outside (west) of Grand Island, NE. We talked about getting a group of guys/gals to go down there on July 10th and joining them for their scheduled 3Gun match. Some of you have shot there before, some of you need to. It is my opinion that you should make the time to go down there on the 10th. Meet new people, shoot up their targets, learn new things (like no matter how well you do down there you'll never be able to beat their 'scorekeeper'). Kidding. Sort of.
There is a MNRPC meeting on the 12th at Huck's so waiting til then to make plans to go to GI and shoot isn't going to work out so well. I'd suggest you get on the phone and call everyone you know that might like to go with us on Sunday the 10th. It would be fun to show up with a rather large group of MNRPC "shooters" don't you think?
Carpool? Sure.
The 3Gun shoot is scheduled to start at 1:00pm Sunday July 10, 2011. Let's meet at Bow Glass around 10:00am - give us some time to get our gear situated and figure out who's riding with whom. More importantly, it will give us time to find some food in GI before the shoot. AIS (Ass In Seat) time is 10:30am.
Start making your calls/texts. Let's have a good idea of who's going before we leave from BB and leave shooters behind. That is all.

Thank You, to everyone who showed up for our Fathers Day 3-Gun shoot. We had approximately 19 shooters, who ran the 5 stage cof. Everyone I talked to had a great time Sunday. After scoring stage 2, I am not sure carrying a video camera or a DeWalt drill in the middle of a shootout is a very good idea. :-P :-) A big hand to Joel & Company (AKA Devious & Diabolical) for setting this shoot up. I would also to thank everyone who helped with setup & teardown. A word of note, at the next meeting (July 12th) we will be discussing changing the shoot fees from $10 for both sessions, to $10/session. The reasoning behind this, is the price of targets have went up and also so we can purchase more of the items people are wanting to see at these shoots.

**PLEASE NOTE**
Be sure to bring tick repellent with you to the range as a few have been encountered. Now don't go getting visions of a mutant tick attack, and bring your RPG's or 40mm grenade launchers. These ticks were of the variety that a standard 12 gauge load of #8 shot would handle, or if you prefer more of a challenge you could use handgun shot loads on these, OR you could just bring standard tick repellent. At the least just be sure and check yourself for ticks when you leave (like you normally would when you venture into tall grass & weeds [you do normally do that, RIGHT]). Edited to add: No you may not bring a flame thrower to rid the range of any or all ticks. If the thought "I wonder if an aerosol can and a lighter are considered a flame thrower?" just popped in to your head, IMO ticks are the least of your problems. :-) Compudoc

Yes, as a matter of fact, I heard some of you moaning and groaning as we chose the COF's for Sunday's Shoot. You're going to LOVE them. Your guns - clean them, lube them, and make sure you bring the correct amounts of the correct ammo. Gloves? Elbow and knee pads? Armor? Maybe. I'd eat a decent breakfast and bring a lunch. Don't forget you water and sunscreen.

Not much has changed from previous years but for those of you new to our AP SHOOTS I'll go over some of the more important details. You do not need to be a member of the MNRP Club to join us at the AP SHOOT - the public is welcome and strongly encouraged! We will be shooting several different "Stages" or "Courses Of Fire" (COF's) and timing you during the COF's. Your score will kept and consist of your raw time and accuracy of hits - shoot as accurately as you can as fast as you can. That's all there is to it. We don't give out cash or prizes (we may start) but that shouldn't stop anyone from coming out and trying something new. Safety is paramount at our range and all safety rules will be strictly enforced!
Things you will need for a day of shooting:

A centerfire handgun in good mechanical condition
A belt holster (strong side) for handgun - no shoulder or cross-draw types allowed
Bring spare magazines (3 total would be a good start) and mag holders.
Bring the correct type of ammo for your handgun
Bring your water and your food/snacks
Eye and ear protection is required on our range

We will start the AP SHOOT at 10:00am and again at 1:00pm- plan on getting there a little early -get your score sheet and get registered to shoot. $10 buys you a score sheet. We will be having a short "Shooter Orientation" just prior to shooting.

MNRP Club is going to be hosting indoor shooting at the Paddock Bldg. starting Monday evening. This coming Monday, January 24th, you'll be able to shoot your .22 RIMFIRE indoors. Make sure you thank Larry when you get there, he pretty much took this project and ran with it. Strong work Larry. If this works we'll try and make this weekly shoot for us.

Larry thought 7:30pm sounded like a great time to start shooting around. Bring $5.00 to shoot, Larry has some targets for you shooters so don't worry too much about that. If you don't get it done on the range this coming Sunday you'll have to wait until next spring - let's make it a point to get to the range and finish the year off right. Bring a new shooter with you. Divisions will include: Limited, Tactical, Tactical Rifle Optics, Limited Big Bore, and Open. You might notice that "High Cap" and "TRM" are not options for you this Sunday. If you have questions as to your "Division" ask before you shoot and we will get you squared away (it's tough for me to remember after the fact who was running what gear and what "Division" they should have been in - unless you're running that Saiga S12).

Here is the 'quick and dirty' on the upcoming Night Shoot:
Saturday, August 21, 2010.
Shooter sign up/registration at 7:30p.m.
Shooting starts at 8:00p.m.
Handgun only.
Bring a flashlight (one that works) it's going to get dark and you're going to need it (weapon mounted lights acceptable as long as they work).

50 rounds center fire handgun minimum (you know how this works, if you're going to go through the COF's twice bring at least 100 rounds).
The club has a new steel target that you guys need to see (shoot at) and you'll get your chance to do so on Saturday night so bring a little ammo for that as well.

Registration opens at 12:30p.m. The "Rimfire Challenge" will start at 1:00p.m. There will be 5 "Stages" consisting of 10 rounds each (5 handgun 5 rifle) and the cost to play is $5.00 all day! There will be different divisions for all shooters and abilities. New shooters are welcome and encouraged (shooters under the age of 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian).We'd like to have you come out and join us at the MNRPC Range for a safe, fun way to experience competitive shooting. I've been asked about the ranges we will be shooting Sunday and what rifle might work the best. As for the "ranges" part of the answer I responded with "80 yards". After I thought about it for a short time I changed my mind. "80 yards" is still a correct answer but not a complete answer -so now be thinking "powder burned" targets as well as "I cant even see the target you are talking about!" types of ranges. I love good questions!!!

The range is soaked. Even if the 'weather experts' are correct and the sunshine returns to us on Tuesday afternoon, the range could still be a little muddy in spots. I don't think we will need hip-boots by then but please plan ahead. You know the drill when it comes to a muddy range: park at top and walk in. Now because this is a 3Gun you will probably be carrying a bit more 'gear' - a pack of some sort maybe? The only thing more fun than sliding down a muddy hill with $$$ worth of gear is doing it 3 times just to get everything you brought with you to the bottom.

I hope it dries out a little by then for you guys with the 'pretty guns'...

A New Game at the MNRP Club

I think I'm going to call it "The 1000 meter Chicken". Maybe just "The 1K Chicken". Rumor has it that there are some serious long range shooters out there. Shooters who need a challenge.
Here's the deal: I'll get a steel chicken to stand out there at 1000 meters and we'll take turns trying to knock him down (we'll be shooting from the flagpole). Shooters will "buy in" and then be eligible for most of the purse/kitty/pot (some of it will go to the Club) - the more shooters that "buy in" the bigger the prize. With me so far? Good.
Now, for the rules:
1.) Leave your .50BMG at home (at least for now).
2.) YOU, the shooter, must be on the rifle (no computer guided fully automated firing systems will be allowed).
3.) The chicken must be KNOCKED DOWN to win. Hits that "rock" or "spin" the chicken will be scored a MISS - if the chicken remains on his feet after you shoot, you missed.
You want to shoot from a bench with a bipod or sandbags? OK. You want to shoot from the prone position with bags or a bipod? OK. Sling? OK. You want to stand there and shoot offhand at a steel chicken 1000 meters away? I'm certainly not going to stop you and some might even encourage you to do so (plan on someone taking your money).

SILHOUETTE RIFLE FUN SHOOT

Sunday May 23, 2010 the Mid-Nebraska Rifle & Pistol Club will be holding a Silhouette Fun Shoot. The shooting will start at 1:00p.m. so get there a little early to get yourselves signed up.

Rules:
1.) Each Silhouette Rifle Shoot will consist of 2, 40 round matches (1 round on each of 10 steel targets, at 4 distances of 200, 300, 385, and 500 yards) for a total of 80 rounds. 40 rounds fired from the bench and 40 rounds fired from the off-hand position.

2.) There will be 2 Classes: Small Bore, 6mm and smaller and Large Bore, any rifle larger than 6mm.

3.) Any rest is allowed when shooting from the bench, and any sling is allowed when shooting off-hand.

4.) Spotting scopes and spotters will be allowed.

5.) Small bore shots must make a clean kill shot, non kill shots will be counted as a miss. Shots must be confirmed.

6.) Large bore shots must knock the target off of the stand, targets remaining on the stand will be counted as a miss. Shots must be confirmed.

7.) Ties will be settled by shooting the "Chicken" targets off-hand at the 200 yard stand.

8.) All standard range rules and commands will be in effect. Hearing and eye protection will be required.

9.) There will be a 10 minute time limit for each 10 round string. Any shots fired after the 10 minute "Cease Fire" is called will be counted as a miss.

I've heard about the trophies that will be given out to some of those who attend and they sound pretty nice. Al has put a lot of work into getting this shoot put together and we'd like you to join us at the range on Sunday. Make sure and thank Al for getting this up and running!

May 2nd, 2010. You guys and gals have waited all winter for this so don't miss it. Practice (if you need it) starts at noon, the match will start at 1:00p.m.

What's that? You say that you'd like to come out and shoot pins with us but aren't sure you could keep up with some of our "professionals"? You'd be embarrassed? Rubbish and poppycock I say! First of all, we have divisions for all shooters - even brand new "I've never shot at bowling pins before in my entire life!" shooters. Secondly, about those "professionals", I'm not sure they exist (sure Al gets lucky sometimes, but how often can a guy that shoots with his eyes closed win?). Don't worry about being embarrassed as I've seen all of our past and regular shooters leave pins standing. Come out, be safe, and have some fun. We hope to see you at the range.

In all seriousness, I'd like to thank Al for stepping in and running the first Pin Shoot of 2010 - I know that I appreciate it and you guys and gals that shoot on Sunday can thank him in person. Honoring April 19th 1775

On April 17-18, 2010, over three thousand--and possibly as many as five thousand--Americans will gather with their families and friends and to learn about, remember, and honor the men and women who birthed a nation on April 19, 1775. On this weekend, we will meet throughout our great land, from coast-to-coast to learn the American tradition of rifle marksmanship and hear the Story of April 19th, 1775--the one you never heard in school, the historically-true one. And, you are in for a treat. A reawakening of something you might not know you had. A kinship, a spirit, a new feeling--not only about your fellow Americans, your past, your heritage--but about our future.

On the weekend of April 17th, we will gather at over a hundred locations. Will you be there? More importantly, will your children be there? Will your best friend stand beside you... participating in the single largest nationwide coast-to-coast Heritage event our nation has ever seen? Will you stand with your fellow Americans in over 40 states around this great nation and dedicate yourself to restoring our nation’s Heritage and passing it on to future generations?

As a nation, we no longer remember how and why our country was founded. Some would say America began on the day our Declaration of Independence was signed. Some would say America began on the day our Constitution was ratified. Those who have attended an Appleseed Project event know free America was born on April 19, 1775. On that day, British colonists became Americans for the first time. On that day, a nation was born through the efforts of a bunch of Americans much like us.

We honor their sacrifices by remembering why they chose to stand when and where they did, what they risked, and the prices they each paid for us - their progeny. If you already know of the heroism of Paul Revere, Captain John Parker, and Captain Isaac Davis bring a cousin, neighbor, co-worker or friend who needs to hear about April 19th. Bring them with you to this event.

As a nation, we need to remember the importance of the American tradition of rifle marksmanship and its fundamental contribution to our freedom. We forget how this American traditional skill was critical to our success on that first day of our fight for liberty. Our rifle-owning forefathers continually practiced with friends and family until capable of hitting a small water bucket at 250 paces using a flintlock with antique sights. More importantly, they passed those skills on to their children. Are you able to at least match your great grandfather using modern equipment? Can you consistently hit targets out to 500 yards with nothing but a rack grade rifle and sling? Do you have a spouse, grandson, or co-worker who might appreciate this program? Bring them with you to this Appleseed event. Help pass this tradition on to a new generation.

To remember is to honor.
To experience is to live history.
To awaken into our past is to step into our future.

If I recall correctly, 9 "RIFLEMAN" patches were earned last year during our first Appleseed Event. You can take my word for it, these "RIFLEMAN" patches are earned. Every one of them. You would be proud to own one.

For those of you who missed the meeting (and for those of you who slept through it):

1) Pin Shoots will be held on the first Sunday of each month beginning in April. Start time 1:00

2) AP Shoots will be held on the 3rd Sunday of each month beginning in April. Start times at 10:00a.m. and again at 1:00p.m.

3) NEW - The MNRP Club will hold 2 Steel Silhouette Shoots this season. May 23rd and September 12. We are getting the details put together for you and will have them here on the site ASAP.

There were a few more things that were discussed and a few nominations were made for Club Officers - we will be taking more nominations and voting in the Officers at the March meeting.

I'm in the process of getting the scores put together and uploaded. I'll be putting up the results from the "Night Shoot" at the same time as well - I dropped the ball on that one fellas. Dave got me the results right away after the shoot and I have been neglectful in getting them posted. Not long now. On Wednesday September 23, 2009 the Mid-Nebraska Rifle and Pistol Club had the distinct privilege of hosting the BD Managers Rifle and Pistol Shooting Extravaganza. This international crowd consisted of shooters of all experiences levels; some of those with military backgrounds were right at home, and for others it was their first time shooting, EVER! It is truly a wonderful thing when you get to see firsthand the joy and fellowship that the shooting sports can bring. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every person on the firing line and can only hope that they had as much fun as I did. It was also an honor and a privilege to introduce shooting to those who would have otherwise not had the opportunity. I hope this message finds all of you safe in your travels and that your travels will someday find you back at the range.

Yes. The last scheduled Mid-Nebraska Rifle and Pistol Club's Action Pistol shoot of the year will be a 3-Gun Match (4-Gun actually, but you are going to have to show up to see what I'm talking about). Don't be scared, it probably won't hurt that bad... Muwahahahaa (diabolical laugh)
Where do I start? You've all heard the saying "Save the best for last.", well, we did. I don't want to give to much away before the shoot. You really should show up for this one. Really. You have plenty of time to get ready. Reschedule any of your conflicts for the day because this type of thing only happens once a year.

Minimum Round Count:
Handgun - 54*
Birdshot - 41*
Slug - 1*
Rifle/Carbine - 38*

*Bring a few extra (you're going to need them). Don't worry about bringing ammo for the "4th Gun", you probably don't own any of that caliber anyway... Muwahahahaa

Date: SATURDAY September 26, 2009

Time: 1:00p.m. and again at dusk(say 6:00p.m.) if any of you shooters care to try your hand at it in the dark. Pay once play twice. Bring a light. Bring a sandwich, you'll work up an appetite.

A COUPLE OF THINGS

First, we'll start with the PIN SHOOT: We will be shooting bowling pins again this Sunday afternoon (September 6th, 2009) starting at 1:00. For those of you interested in doing so, you can get a little practice in before hand starting at noon. All are welcome to join! We have divisions for all people from "expert" to "which end of this does the thingy come out of?" and trophies for those who place in the top 2 of those divisions. Pretty cool, eh? Show up, win a trophy and tell all of your friends how cool you are.
Second, let's talk about the Appleseed Event that the Club will be hosting on 9/12 and 9/13. This is important. You need to be there. You need to get all of your friends to show up as well. AP Night Shoot Is Here

There will be 5 COF’s with a minimum round count of 43 if you choose to shoot hand gun throughout. For those of you that are interested and so equipped one of the stages is carbine optional requiring a minimum of 18 rounds.

Bring Your Gear!

Flashlights are mandatory. You WILL use a light even if it’s a 1 candle power candle, if that’s what you have, bring it and use it.

If you have a weapon mounted light but do not have the expensive ass special holster for the gun/light I will allow low ready starts.

We will start shooting around 8 P.M. we may run the first stage in a low light and depending on how long that takes us we may have a short intermission until we begin the "oh god I can't see my hand in front of my face" stages.

Saturday August 22, 2009. Plan on being at the MNRP Range at 8:00p.m. and getting signed in. Arriving a little early will allow you the time to check your gear to make sure it is functioning correctly. It will also allow you to get a look at the COF's you will be shooting. Bring your carbine as well (rumor has it you will be given the option of "Handgun/Carbine" or "Handgun" only).

Yes, it will get dark during the Match. Yes, you need a flashlight. Yes, you should try and bring extra batteries for the light you are running. Yes, "weapon mounted lights" are OK to use while shooting with us.

AUGUST AP SHOOT

The wait is almost over...
It was nearly a year ago when the MNRPC held it's first Action Pistol "Night Shoot" - it was a great success. Many of you who joined us on the range that night learned a few new things. All of us there realized that engaging multiple targets while using a light takes some practice. I am certain that we all had a great time. It is time for another "Night Shoot".
The MNRPC will be hosting it's second AP "Night Shoot" on August 22, 2009. We will be shooting on Saturday night instead of Sunday morning and afternoon so please plan accordingly. Tell your friends. We are planning on starting at 8:00p.m.
This is not just for those of you who have taken the time to get your CCW. This is for everyone. As much as I hope and pray that none of you are forced to defend your lives and lives of loved ones, the fact is that evil people are doing evil things to good people, and I want you to be VICTORIOUS in your battle with evil if and when your day comes. The only pain I hope you suffer in your battle with evil is the ringing in your ears when the fight is over. There are 24 hours in a day and nearly half of those hours are "low-light" or "no-light" hours. How many of you have practiced shooting in these conditions? How many of you have engaged multiple targets from cover during these conditions? Cleared a malfunctioning handgun in the dark? Figured out how to 'reload' when your support hand is now holding a flashlight? How many of you have a "Fighting light" and know how to use it? Be honest with yourself.
I'll leave it up to you, the defender of your own, to decide if you know enough to be victorious. If there is any doubt in your mind please join us at the range. Please understand that this is not a "Class" and no one is going to tell you that your way is wrong (you may learn a new and better way just by watching/talking with others). What we are doing is offering you a opportunity to test your ability to defend your own in a safe environment. It is the same thing we always do at the AP Shoots - this time we'll do it in the dark.

Take advantage of this opportunity. Looking forward to hearing you at the range.
