Shooting Sports

We at the MNRP Club want to help support the Shooting Sports in the surrounding area as well as continue to provide events at our local range. There are many different types of events out there and the MNRP Club encourage all of you to become involved in the Shooting Sports. Whether it be Bowling Pin Shoots, Action Pistol, IDPA, ICORE, IPSC, or NRA sponsored events, we would like to support them by posting the information here on this site. If you are involved with a local shooting club or have information regarding the Shooting Sports in surrounding areas let us know and we will post the information here.
The MNRP Club is already hosting monthly Bowling Pin and AP shoots and is currently working to add some Military Rifle type matches. We are working on putting together a John C. Garand Match as well as a Swiss Rifle match - both to use the NRA HP Rules. We are also 'kicking' around the idea of hosting a NRA HP Sporting Rifle match for those wanting to use their hunting rifles.
Get involved. Share the Shooting Sports with a new shooter.

Mud

Now that we in this part of the world are starting to thaw out, the MNRP Club would like to remind all of our members and guests to use some common sense when utilizing the range. The road to the bottom of the range is a mess and we would encourage you to use the upper portion of the range for parking and all of your shooting activities. The area around the lower shooting benches is also a muddy mess. It wont be long before we dry out a little. Until then please use your better judgment and take a little bit better care of the range.

Thanks for your help on this matter.

Upcoming Events

Mid-Nebraska Rifle and Pistol Club will be hosting both Bowling Pin Shoots and Action Pistol Shoots monthly. As it stands now the Bowling Pin Shoots will be run on the first Sundays and the Action Pistol Shoots to be run on the third Sundays, both starting at 1:00 p.m.

For those of you not familiar with the Pin Shoots, the idea is to clear 5 bowling pins off of the bench in front of you before the other shooter clears his. The double elimination format used has time and again proved exciting! The pin benches are set 7 yards downrange from the shooters and there is no limit to the amount of ammo you can use to clear your bench... There are several "divisions" for the shooters who would like to participate and a hatred for Bowling Pins is not required. New shooters are welcome to join us!

Action Pistol Shoots are newer to the club and are scheduled for the third Sunday of each month starting in April. Borrowing heavily from IDPA, Action Pistol Shoots require participants to engage cardboard and steel targets in different "Courses Of Fire" (COF's/Stages). Common COF's require the shooter to engage the targets from behind cover as well as shoot while moving. Moving targets add to the challenge of the AP Shoots. Scoring is a combination of raw time and hits on targets. We plan on hosting at least one "night shoot" sometime this season as well. Start time of the AP Shoots is 1:00 p.m. The only required equipment for the AP Shoots is a quality holster that will allow you to reholster your firearm with one hand. I can elaborate on this further if needed. Having a couple of extra magazines is recommended. If the AP Shoots sound like something you'd like to try then please join us at the range.

Mid-Nebraska Rifle and Pistol Club 2009

Hello MNRPClub Members,

It's almost that time again. Time to get to the range and reacquaint yourself with old friends. The Mid-Nebraska Rifle and Pistol Club will be hosting several shooting activities throughout the warmer months and we would love to have you join us!

We have changed things up a little here regarding the web/internet and hopefully all of you will find this informational as well as entertaining. MNRP Club members and guests are welcome to post comments here on the page for all to see. It is our hope that in this format, we will be able to keep you better informed on upcoming events not only club related but also in the surrounding area.

I'd like to thank JK Purtzer for all of the hard work he put into this site thus far and making it a reality.

I hope to see all of you at the range in the very near future!

Regards,
Joel Vollertsen
